Ground Stations System Engineer

Within the Ground Stations Competence Area CA of the System Engineering and Projects Division SEP, the Ground Stations System Engineer will provide ground station engineering support to the development of future satellite systems, in particular the EUMETSAT Meteosat Third Generation MTG and Polar System Second Generation EPSSG and JasonCSSentinel6, and to operations of the existing Meteosat Second Generation, the EUMETSAT Polar System and Jason3 systems. DUTIES In support to the development or upgrade of Ground Stations Lead the specification and requirements definition activities Contribute to procurement and followup the contractors development activities Followup the Assembly, Integration and Tests of new ground stations procured from industry, and lead on site acceptance testing Lead the definition, execution and evaluation of tests for upgrades or refurbishment of ground stations Define and validate with ground segment, system development and operations preparation teams an adequate transition plan from ground station acceptance to entry into operations, including contributions to relevant ground segment and system Integration Verification and Validation tests Lead the definition and control the implementation of integrated maintenance plans for ground stations Support the Ground Stations Competence Area Manager in defining long term plans and roadmaps to harmonise Ground Station engineering, maintenance and evolutions across all EUMETSAT satellite systems including associated processes. Candidates must be able to work effectively in English and have some knowledge of French. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Proven experience in ground stations engineering following well established system engineering processes covering the full development lifecycle, and relevant technical standards e.g. ECSS, CCSDS Competence and infield proven experience in the area of Ground Stations Assembly Integration and Test and integration of ground stations into ground segment and endtoend satellite systems Experience in ground stations maintenance Understanding and experience in the management of industrial contracts in the area of ground stations engineering or development will be considered an advantage Some experience in the management of teams and projects. Experience of communicating and teamworking, preferably in a matrix environment EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS The initial contract will be of 4 years duration, with subsequent 5year contracts being awarded thereafter, subject to individual performance and organisation requirements. There is no limit to the amount of followup contracts a staff member can receive up to the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63 and there are certainly opportunities to establish a long career perspective at EUMETSAT. This post is graded A2A4 on the EUMETSAT salary scales. The minimum basic salary for this post is EURO 5,612 per month net of internal tax which may be negotiable based on skills and experience. The salary scale provides for increments on the anniversary of taking up employment, and scales are reviewed by the EUMETSAT Council with effect from 1 January each year. Reporting to the Ground Stations Operations Manager of the Ground Stations and External Interfaces GSEI Team, the Junior Ground Stations Operations Engineer and supports operations and upgrades of EUMETSAT ground stations and external ground station services. Ground Stations System Engineer

For our customer in Darmstadt, we are looking for a Ground Stations System Engineer to support engineering related activities of the ground stations allocated to the various EUMETSAT programs mainly MTG, EPSSG and JasonCS. The post will also provide engineering support to the existing MSG and EPS programmes. These cover geostationary GEO and low Earth orbit LEO orbital regimes. Task and Responsibilities The candidate shall support the activities of ground segment developments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications. In doing this, heshe shall support The follow up of the detailed design and development activities of Phase BCD of the future ground segments in the areas of Ground Stations, RF and Telecommunications mainly for EPS SG and JasonCS activities. The MTG Mission Data Acquisition Facility Ka band antenna and TTCF S band antenna Warranty and Maintenance phases in the areas of Telecommunications, RF and Ground Stations, The maintenance and evolution in phase E to the other programmes within EUMETSAT supporting operations MSG, EPS, Jason, ,.. in the areas of Telecommunications, RF and Ground Stations, The key person will support a multidisciplinary system engineering team. In the performance of these tasks, the key person shall apply the relevant organisational and programmatic quality management procedures as well as the relevant ground stations system engineering standards. Skills and Experience The key person shall have a university degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline relevant to the job profile together with the experience and capability to fulfil the assigned tasks. Heshe shall have, as a prerequisite, a demonstrated experience in a similar function for at least 2 years.
