Figures just released show the 65-plate has taken new car registrations to a September record, with 462,517 registered last month - a rise of 8.6% and the highest-ever September number. The latest monthly tot-up means that the year-to-date total is 2,096,886, the first time that the two million mark has been passed in September since 2004.
