Cooling fan suspected source of smoke that forced emergency landing in Aleutians
2015-07-30 23:26:40| Airlines - Topix.net
Cathay Pacific Airways says a preliminary inspection after an emergency landing at a remote air base in Alaska's Aleutian Islands indicates an equipment cooling fan failed. The Hong Kong-based airline said Thursday that smoke was detected in the cockpit, prompting the captain of Flight CX884 to divert to Eareckson Air Station on Shemya Island early Wednesday.

Reference design, built around TMPM375 MCU with Vector Engine (VE) technology and peripherals, simplifies complex motor control designs in high-performance cooling fans and similar products for servers and data centers. VE technology employs vector control in hardware to aid handling of complex field-oriented vector control and space-vector modulation methods. Options range from single-phase Brushless DC Motor control to Vector Controlled Brushless DC Motor systems.

Certified according to EN50155, UFanRail® for InnoTrans 2012 ensures efficient and steady cooling of modular units within 19 in. cabinets and housings. Air flow conduction ensures effective, homogenous cooling of modular units, preventing formation of hotspots and subsequently increasing MTBF of electronics. Depending on ambient temperature, fan speed is regulated linearly in from 50%–100%. Data communication occurs via TPC/IP respectively SNMP or via field bus MVB specific to railways.
