Houston-based ConocoPhillips reported an earnings loss for the first quarter of 2015 because of the ongoing oil slump and more dry hole expenses. The exploration and production giant saw an 87 percent dip in earnings from the first quarter of 2014, falling from $2.1 billion last year to $272 million this year.

Winter weather and the oil industry's slump dropped Baton Rouge-based H&E Equipment Services Inc.'s first-quarter earnings to $6.1 million, or 17 cents per share. For the same period in 2014, the heavy-equipment supplier turned a profit of $7.4 million, or 21 cents per share.
Rockwell Automation sales slump for second straight quarter

The strong dollar and weak oil prices combined to cut into Rockwell Automation Inc. sales, which fell for the second straight quarter in the period that ended March 31. Net income was $206 million, or $1.51 per share, an increase of 14.4 percent, compared with $180 million, or $1.28 per share, in the same period a year ago. Sales slipped 3.1 percent, to $1.55 billion, compared with $1.6 billion in the second quarter of 2014.

Twitter cuts revenue forecast, shares slump

Twitter projected 2015 revenue of $2.17 billion to $2.27 billion, compared with its earlier forecast of $2.3 billion to $2.35 billion. Analysts on average had been expecting full-year revenue of $2.37 billion.

Erik Bergstroem, a power manager at Scandem AB, says if the wet weather continues, prices will probably slump more than 50 percent in July to levels not seen for three years.
