Dutch telephony market growing, VoIP lines reach 5.5 mln

(Telecompaper) The Dutch fixed telephony market grew by 10,000 connections during the third quarter of 2015 to end September with nearly 6.3 million lines, according to Telecompaper's latest Dutch Fixed Telephony Market report. The market continues to expand thanks to growth in digital lines, which rose by 0.9 percent, helping to offset the 5.5 percent drop in PSTN/ISDN lines and 2.6 percent decrease of WLR (Wholesale Line Rental) lines. Digital telephone lines reached almost 5.5 million on 30 September, driven by 0.5 percent quarterly growth in VoIP users on DSL networks and a 5.9 percent increase in VoIP subscribers on fibre.

KPN grows market share to 28% of Dutch TV subscriptions

(Telecompaper) KPN continues to grow its share of the Dutch TV market, at the expense of cable operator Ziggo. KPN added 0.4 percentage points in the third quarter to take 28 percent of subscribers, while Ziggo lost 0.5 percent points for a share of 52.8 percent, according to Telecompaper's latest quarterly report on the Dutch Television Market. Ziggo is struggling to halt the steady decline in cable's market share, according to the researchers. Its new Ziggo Sport channel, launched exclusively for Ziggo TV subscribers, is expected to help slow its loss of customers and could provide a boost to growth in digital TV subscribers.

(Telecompaper) The Dutch broadband market continued to grow during the third quarter of 2015, leading to a household penetration of 92.5 percent at the end of September, according to the Dutch Broadband 2015 Q3 report from Telecompaper. Compared with the end of September 2014, the penetration increased with 2.4 percentage points. The broadband market ended Q3 2015 with a total 7.093 million mass market connections, growing by 1.0 percent during the quarter. The growth came as usual from fibre and was supported by growing broadband via cable connections, following a rare quarterly loss for cable broadband in the second quarter.
