We are currently looking for a Programme Manager for Antennas within the team in Stevenage, to play a key role in the delivery of prime projects. The successful applicant will lead and manage multidisciplined, integrated project teams in the design and manufacture of Spacecraft Antenna products and complete systems. The successful applicant will be working at the forefront of cutting edge technology, on large, high profile programmes. The role involves a high level of exposure to the front end of the projects, and we are looking for somebody who has the ability to work closely with end customers and raise the profile of the department. Priority will be given to Internal Astrium applicants. Applications are welcome from agency workers. The key responsibilities of the role are Provide leadership of a Project Team to ensure an Antenna product or System is delivered onquality, ontime and oncost. This will involve leadership and motivation to build the team into an effective unit Act as the single point of contact with the customers both internal and external, and negotiate any changes in requirement specification Manage, with the Astrium Supplier Relationship Managers, national and international subcontractors and suppliers. Manage, with the Astrium Procurement organisation, external suppliers for the provision of components and subassemblies. Ensure effective Risk and Opportunity Management and Gate Review processes are in place on the programme. Generate and present programme technical, schedule and financial performance at monthly senior management reviews The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience Educated to degree level or equivalent in Engineering, Science, Electronics or related discipline Extensive experience in in high integrity technical project management, ideally working in a Space environment Knowledge of the design drivers and production processes associated with the design of spacecraft products Technical subcontract management Demonstrable and quantifiable skills in hardware delivery project management planning and control, risk management, commercial and financial parameters, negotiation skills, and a high degree of customer interaction Desirable An understanding and appreciation of the significance of the antenna within satellite applications Prince2 or PMI French German language skills TO APPLY click here

Astrium Services Government Communications is the worlds leading commercial provider of militarygrade satellite communications. EADS the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. Astrium Services is the prime contractor for the Skynet 5 contract with the UK Ministry of Defence, signed in October 2003, valued at 3.6bn. The programme provides mobile voice, video, internet and broadcast communications for the UK armed forces, as well as a range of other Government departments and agencies. Government Communications own, manage and operate the Skynet 5 satellite system, and are responsible for delivering the service, controlling the satellite, managing the network and implementing all upgrades throughout its life. From the outset Astrium Services designed Skynet 5 to be large enough and capable enough to provide military satellite services to a range of other countries and organisations. These include NATO and the armed forces of the Netherlands, Portugal, Canada, France and Germany. A vacancy has arisen for a Programme Manager with Astrium Services Government Communications in Stevenage. The successful applicant will report to the Head of Programme Governance Programme Management and will be responsible for the successful and timely delivery of all allocated Programme Management activity in the sector of Space Airborne. In addition, they will be the line manager for all allocated Programme Management resources. This entails the successful delivery of Space Airborne terminals and spacecraft, along with Ground Infrastructure and Terrestrial Mobile related elements of work. The person will work in a key crossfunctional team along with Service Creation and Service Management, interfacing closely with engineering, sourcing, finance and quality teams. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Acting as the functional manager for the sector in the successful and timely delivery of all allocated Programme Management activity. Acting as Line Manager for all allocated Programme Management resources. To include The successful execution and delivery of all assigned projects such that they meet, or improve on, agreed contractual and business requirements inclusive of schedule, technical performance and cost SPC requirements. In conjunction with the Head of Programme Management UK, and in line with business approved processes, the definition, agreement and ongoing management of a Programmes Sector organisation. The successful and timely delivery of all agreed programme related activities. The agreement and ongoing maintenance of a set of schedules, CBS, WBS and OBS relating to all programmes within their span of control. The communication of Programme status. This shall be defined by the Head of Programme Management UK and include Programme deliverables against defined and agreed Schedule, Technical Performance and Cost SPC requirements. Programme financial indicators. Customer satisfaction. In conjunction with the appointed Resource Manager The definition of all resource needs, forward load, and provision of all line management necessary to ensure programme success. The allocation of suitably skilled resources required to meet program needs. The identification of all Programme Management training needs. Ensuring all capabilityperformance related activity is satisfactorily completed. This shall include the completion of salary awards, promotions, performance reviews and appraisals. Driving continuous improvement and cost reduction in order to improve PL. The successful resolution of all program and all sector related issues or, where this proves not to be possible, the appropriate and timely escalation of all unresolved issues. The provision of all management reports and metrics as required of the business.
