In the wake of the devastation caused by recent catastrophic floods in South Carolina, the Harvest Hope Food Bank, whose mission is to provide for the needs of hungry people by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education, continues to organize disaster-relief efforts in Columbia, S.C., and has an ongoing need for donations. As a contribution to these enduring relief efforts, Smithfield is bringing a 41,000-pound protein donation to the Harvest Hope Food Bank in Columbia.

Dell boosts recycling, environmental efforts

Austin-based Dell is taking another big step towards its recycling and environmental improvement efforts, announcing Tuesday that it will be the first tech company to use new recycled elements in its products starting later this year. Dell, which discussed the plan late this afternoon at a two-day energy conference in Austin, said it will use excess carbon fiber and scrap raw materials in its products, marking progress towards the company's "2020 Legacy of Good" plan to move toward a "circular economy" model where recycled products plays a key role.
