Sony raises FY net profit forecast after strong growth in Q3

(Telecompaper) Sony has upped its net profit for the forecast for the full year after strong growth in the third quarter. The company's net profit jumped to JPY 429.0 billion in the third quarter from 295.1 billion the year before, despite revenues going lower to JPY 2.401 trillion from 2.672 trillion and restructuring charges advancing to JYP 6.9 billion from 3.1 billion year-on-year. The operating profit lifted to JPY 377.0 billion from 350.8 billion.

H&M optimistic despite Q4 and FY profit tumble

H&M has offered an optimistic outlook on the year ahead, with CEO Karl-Johan Persson confident the fast fashion retailer is on the "right track" despite a fall in profit for both the fourth quarter and full year.

Samsung says weak results to continue into 2019 after Q4 profit falls 31%

(Telecompaper) Samsung Electronics reported lower fourth-quarter results in line with its earlier guidance, blaming the weaker economic climate and lower demand for its semiconductor and smartphone products. The company expects earnings to fall in 2019 again, due mainly to a weaker performance at its memory chip business. Demand for memory products and OLED panels is expected to pick up from the second half of the year, Samsung said.
