Xiaomi unveils Mi 4 smartphone

(Telecompaper) Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has launched its Mi 4 smartphone. Powered by the Android KitKat OS, the Mi 4 will initially be available in China. The device features a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, and comes with 3GB of RAM, 16/64GB of onboard storage. The phone is also 4G-enabled. The Mi 4 also sports a 5-inch full-HD display with a 1,920x1,080-pixel resolution. The phone includes a 3,080mAh battery, and charges from 0 to 60 percent in an hour, the company says.

To sidestep this problem, the folks at GoTenna have developed their own ad-hoc network for sending messages. It's an incredible concept, but with an asking price higher than most smartphones, there's no way that this implementation is going to take off anytime soon.
