Tablet shipments split evenly between iOS, Android in Q1

(Telecompaper) Apple took a 50 percent share of global tablet shipments in the first quarter, but Android tablets will inevitably overtake iOS, according to ABI Research. No single vendor is expected to challenge Apple's dominance in the short term, however. ABI Research estimates that the 7.9-in iPad mini accounted for 49 percent of unit sales and 39 percent of total iPad revenues in the first quarter, putting a dent in sales of larger iPads. Orr expects the iPad mini to be the predominant iPad model after the second quarter.

NEMA’s T5 and T8 linear fluorescent lamp indexes surged upward 6.3 and 15.7% on year-over-year basis, respectively, during 2013Q1. T8 index value of 120.2 was the second highest in the history of the series, while index reading of 173.9 for T5 lamps was the highest since 2011. Index for T12 lamp shipments continued to diminish, posting decrease of 38.9% year-over-year, and settling at 36.5 for the quarter.
