Volkswagen's Audi plans to push forward the good sales momentum by bringing 12 refreshed and new models in the United States over the next three years. Audi surpassed the 200,000 mark of sales for the first time in its history in the United States last year, rising 11.1 percent to 202,202 units.

Acer starts major reorganisation of company into 2 groups

(Telecompaper) Acer has announced the division of its core and new businesses into two groups: Core Business and New Business. The division will become effective on 25 March. Under the Core Business umbrella, Acer will include the IT Products Business that encompasses notebooks, desktops and tablet PCs, its R&D, digital display and server products businesses, as well as its corporate business planning operations. The New Business umbrella will consist of BYOC and Smart Products Business with its BYOC cloud services, smartphones and wearable devices, as well as its value lab and e-business.

Starboard starts offensive against Yahoo board

(Telecompaper) Activist investor Starboard Value wants to remove the entire board of Yahoo and nominate nine directors of its own, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a letter. The investor said in the brief that it believes the current board and management have continually failed to live up to their own promises and should not be trusted with the decision on whether or not Yahoo should remain an independent company. A Yahoo spokesperson declined to comment on the Starboard proposal.

Tele2 starts NFV roll-out with OpenStack

(Telecompaper) Tele2 has announced its first plans for network virtualisation. The company plans to move its network and IT functions into the cloud, using network function virtualisation (NFV). To speed service deployment and keep costs low, Tele2 has chosen OpenStack as the foundation for its private cloud. Canonical will provide and manage OpenStack for Tele2 and Canonical's generic VNF manager, Juju, will be used for the onboarding of new services. Huawei will be providing the rack mount servers. Cisco is the chosen network vendor and will provide its ACI solution. The entire data centre network will be built on a future-proof spine/leaf network with 25G/100G connectivity. Tele2 expects to have the first live application in the form of a virtual Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) in the cloud by Q3.
