Indonesia broke ground Thursday on a new rail line between the capital Jakarta and Bandung, officially marking the start of three years of construction on what is expected to be the first high-speed rail service to operate in Southeast Asia. The 142.3 kilometre railway worth $5.5 billion is being constructed by PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia-China, a joint venture between an Indonesian consortium of four state-owned companies and China Railway International Co.

CAIRN Energy has said it wants $600 million damages from the Indian Government as a tax dispute drags on amid the crude price plunge while highlighting the progress it has made off Scotland and West Africa. The Edinburgh-based firm has started formal proceedings to get compensation for the sharp fall in the value of its remaining holding in the Cairn India business since the country's government launched a $1.6bn tax claim against it two years ago.
