We are currently looking for a Galileo Ground Segment Engineer to work in the beautiful city of Prague. Galileo is Europes Global Navigation Satellite System GNSS, providing improved positioning and timing information with significant positive implications for many European services and users. The objective of this role is to support the ground segment engineering activities. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Follow up of the G2G ground segment activities Review of the proposed architecture Analysis of the impact on G1G hosting entities Advise on the compatibility with current architecture and corresponding constraints Follow up of the hosting entities new equipment in the scope of G1G evolution Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Masters Degree in the relevant discipline. At least 5 years of experience in Galileo Ground Segment Fluency in English Understanding of the current situation on hosting capabilities i.e. maximum number of racks in GCCs and the possible evolutions Organised, dynamic and proactive Security clearance EU Secret will be necessary but is not mandatory to start the activities How to Apply Looking to take your career to the next level? We are looking for a Software Validation OnBoard Ground Engineer E3 to join our Modis Aerospace team, working onsite at the European Space Agency in the Netherlands. Modis Aerospace is a specialized Engineering consultancy with more than 30 years experience providing aerospace Engineers to our key partners in The Netherlands. Modis is a longstanding business partner of the European Space Agency ESA, with more than 120 employees recruited from across Europe currently supporting ESAs activities. Specific tasks to be performed The contractor will be assigned to the Flight Software Systems Section of the Software Systems Division and will be in charge of the following initial tasks Project support related to all technical aspects development and qualification of flight software. General Support to Software Validation Facilities and Avionics Test Bench infrastructure activities. General tasks to be performed Development of Software Validation Facility components as well for the generic facilities as special project applications. This includes processor emulators, simulation of spacecraft systems and spacecraft dynamics. Tasks within design, test and validation of onboards software. Task within customization of realtime operating systems for space applications. Tasks within maintenance and expert support within the software development toolset. Tasks within system evaluation, testing and performance characterization of telecommunication systems as networking via satellite or network management. Design, implementation and testing tasks for the Sections technology programme. To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required A Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline. This position is intended for functional support to Galileo therefore applicants must be nationals of EU Member States, Norway and Iceland. In particular experience with Software engineering and objectoriented programming Space systems and Space Systems engineering Programming languages CC andor others Embedded Real Time Systems and Real Time Kernels Microprocessors such as SPARC LEON, ARM, multicores etc Communication protocols Mil1553, SpaceWire, CAN Software Engineering tools Software Engineering Standards such as the ECSSEST40C The contractor shall be able to function as part of a team. Because of the operational nature of the support, a proactive and flexible attitude will be required. Experience with embedded realtime software development will be an advantage. About ESAESTEC The European Space Agency ESA has sites in several European countries. The European Space Research and Technology Centre ESTEC is the largest site and the technical heart of ESA. This nursery of European space activities is located in Noordwijk, Netherlands. At ESTEC, about 2500 engineers, technicians and scientists work handson with mission design, spacecraft and space technology. Almost all ESA projects except launchers are managed from ESTEC. In Noordwijk, people work on science missions, manned space missions, Earth observation, telecommunications and navigation satellites.
