As our Junior Technician, Ground Operations, you will act as the technical support to the Ground Operations section including the Station Support team. You will be responsible for Ensuring SES has sufficient operational spare equipment for its global operations located at key teleports Europe, Asia, Australia, Mexico. Verifying data collection on equipment usage and availability is accurate Verifying the backup functionality is active and takes actions to achieve this PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES KEY RESULTS AREAS Respond to any ground system anomaly that causes a payload communications outage or disturbance. Ensure spare equipment is immediately available on a global scale. Support for LEOP missions as well as onstation support Support of upcoming mPower and Microsoft projects Respond to any ground system anomaly that causes a TTC outage or disturbance. Restore the service with the least possible delay Respond to any ground system anomaly that causes an Orbit Determination outage or disturbance. Restore the service with the least possible delay. Execute bench repairs or RMA process with vendors to recover failed equipment. Support Satellite and Communications operations Reconfigure the Betzdorf teleport in order to provide backhaul, signal processing and uplink services to customers Proactively maintain the BTZ and backup stations in an excellent state. Perform detailed station checks each day. Ensure all stakeholders follow the correct Authorization to Work process. Monitor lifecycle of equipment with focus on adequate equipment failure prediction Support external customers such as Amazon, EGNOS, LuxGovSat Contribute to the departments expenditure is kept to a minimum and as efficient as possible COMPETENCIES Knowledge of Earth Station systems, equipment and operations RF knowledge including RF signal routing and processing Waveguide, IF and RF switching, filtering and combining, linearisation etc., Amplification TWTAs, KPAs, SSPAs, Frequency conversion, Antennas drives, tracking etc. Knowledge of MPEGDVB encoding and multiplexing, FM and QPSK modulation considered an advantage Understanding of TTC and satellite operations Strong system diagnostic skills Strong team player Selfstarter and strong customer focus QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE Technician qualification Diploma or degree Experience with Dataminer considered an advantage OTHER KEY REQUIREMENTS COMMENTS Willinginess to support out of office hours operations Ability to successfully complete a working at height training Clear and thorough reporting Proactive approach towards station availability reliability Ability to get Nato security Clearance A desire to develop core skills. We are looking for a Junior Ground Station Systems Engineer to support the development and or upgrade of local and remote ground stations. What youll be doing Support the definition, execution and evaluation of tests for upgrades or refurbishment of ground stations Contribute to relevant aspects of ground segment and system integration, verification and validation tests Support the definition and control the implementation of integrated maintenance plans for ground stations Support the definition of requirements and specifications for ground station upgrades or new ground stations Contribute to procurements of new ground stations, upgrades and maintenance and support services, and followup the execution of contracts Support the assembly, integration and testing of new ground stations procured from industry Acquire knowledge on CCSDS standards for ground stations engineering and hands on experience on link budgets engineering and supporting tools. What we offer The initial contract will be under the EUMETSAT Early Career Employee Programme ECEP, for two 2 years with grade A1 on the EUMETSAT salary scale. Subject to successful performance, a further contract of 5 years duration will be awarded in a post graded A2A4.
