A vacancy for a Software Development Environment SDE Engineer has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. You will join the Engineering technical unit for Data Processing OnBoard Software. The function of the technical unit is to provide a central competence that supports the evolving needs of the business, working on space systems, satellite platforms, payloads and equipment. Software is deployed within the onboard space systems e.g. Satellite, and Satellite Instrumentation, to provide the required Functionality and Control You will take responsibility of all Software Development Environment facilities in the UK, to ensure uninterrupted and efficient service of those facilities, thus contributing to the onquality, ontime and oncost of the embedded Software deliverables within Projects. Responsibility for ensuring timely deployment and operational upkeep of the Software Development TestValidation means in our software projects and ensure optimization of the costs according to the development validation processes. Manage their time and agreed budgets in accordance with project and department requirements. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include In partnership with the Project Software Production Validation Responsible engineers, define the means to be used on the project according to the constraints and development Production Validation processes. Responsibility to act as the focal point to manage the interfaces with the purchase team, IM and the traceabilityconfiguration team to identify the hardware and software platform to be purchased or reused, and hence facilitate the purchase, installation and maintenance of HW and SW platforms. In partnership with the Software Production Validation Responsibles, deploy, and thereafter maintain, all hardware and software means used by the software project team throughout the full development cycle providing technical support to the developerUser on all aspects of the software means. Day to day technical support to resolve any SDE problems Define and monitor SDE costs, providing regular reporting to the Project Manager. Make appropriate propositions for improvements of the hardware and software platform according to feedback from projects. As directed, perform technological survey of new hardwaresoftware computing products with the main manufacturers while taking into account the improvement needs of the projects and with cooperation with the related process owners. Define benchmarking to be performed on new tools according to the possible improvements of the development process. Provide the annual balance sheet on expenditures and receipts related to the SDE costs. Participate in technical proposals by providing estimated costs to deliver maintain the appropriate software development tests means. Participate in ongoing implementation of transnational harmonisation of software tools, methods processes, or improvement actions. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree in Computer Science engineering Experience in Embedded Software Engineering domain Proven experience using Embedded SW development toolsenvironment including the mission data base, the production program and makefiles Experienced installing, configuring and maintaining Software Development Environments Experience using Eclipse Cygwin Clearcase Clearquest Reqtify DOORS Vectorcast Doxygen Logiscope or similar Practical experience of using Windows, UNIX, Linux operating systems configuringmanaging hosted tool chains Good knowledge of the test means validation test means, simulators,.. and test tools Understanding of embedded realtime systemssoftware engineering Good practical understanding of software engineering lifecycle process Good knowledge and usage of processes of development, verification and validation for critical onboard software Fluent level of English, French would be a plus. A vacancy for an Electronic Detection Equipment Development Coordinator mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Toulouse. You will join the EO Detection Microwave Engineering department. The Instruments division of the Earth Observation, Navigation Sciences directorate is responsible for developing instruments lidars ALADIN ESA and ATLID ESA, optical and hyperfrequency instruments for Earth observation and scientific payloads EUCLID PLM. Several important instrument developments are in progress or about to kick off IASI NG, Sentinel 5, MetImage and MWI for the MetOp Second Generation mission, GOCI II KARI for Korea and NAOMI for Peru. For optical instrument developments and as the engineer responsible for electronic detection equipment development, you will be in charge of defining then steering the design and development of one or more items of equipment subcontracted to French or European partners. You will be the owner of the statement of work, the contract and the specification for the equipment and must be capable of consolidating them and negotiating with industrial partners you will guarantee compatibility between equipment design and performance and the instrument needs. For the equipment under your responsibility, you will be the focal point for the supplier within the instruments project team. You will report hierarchically to the detection department, be posted to an instrument project group and will participate in project team activities in the definition and development phase. Your main activities will include Participating in detection chain definition Participating in technical and technological choices Specifying electronic detection equipment Coengineering with industrial partners Following up industrial partner activities Supporting activities related to validation and coupling with other detection chain components detectors and other equipment. As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate some of the following skills and competencies Qualified engineer 5year degree or equivalent 5 years experience in electronic equipment design and development, ideally in the space sector Knowledge on the implementation of electrooptical detectors It is essential to have acquired some initial experience in analogue and digital electronics Experience in issues and technologies related to the interface between detectors and implementation electronics is highly recommended connectors, interface PCBs, cold wiring for infrared detection, electrical coupling and EMC issues, etc. Good team player Good sense of responsibility with regard to commitments made and compliance with deadlines Excellent grasp of physics Skills at analysing and synthesising, as well as in complex systems Meticulousness and technical curiosity Creativity, interest in innovation Excellent oral and written communication skills Advanced level of English, proficiency in French would be an asset.
