A recent study on climate change points out that the Chicago region is susceptible to several economic effects from the changing weather that might not be immediately obvious. While much of the focus on rising temperatures, nationally, is on wildlife and how natural disasters might impact human living conditions, the study from the Risky Business Project emphasizes how much the region's energy costs could go up and how much the Midwest's agricultural economy could suffer, in turn hitting the Chicago financial markets.

Peet's expanding in a crowded Chicago coffee field

Peet's Coffee & Tea plans to open its 17th area store Monday in the historic Wrigley Building and sees potential to double its number of locations in Chicago's already crowded coffee shop market over the next few years.
