Pipeline threatens Manitoba's water: report

A new report says a pipeline that would carry one million barrels of oil daily from Alberta to the East Coast would threaten the drinking water of more than 60 per cent of Manitoba residents. The report by the Manitoba Energy Justice Coalition said a rupture on the proposed Energy East pipeline would seep into any number of waterways which feed into Winnipeg's water supply.

Potter Valley water diversion variance public comment period open until June 2

On May 13, PG&E filed a petition with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to request a temporary variance in the flows released from Lake Pillsbury through the Potter Valley Water Project. The company is concerned that Lake Pillsbury may fall below its target storage level of 10,000 acre feet, which could damage the reservoir and cause high levels of turbidity in the river.

The Mississippi of Department of Environmental Quality has officially lifted the water contact advisory that had been set into place for parts of Harrison County. The advisory was from Tegarden Road to Anniston Avenue.
