Reports of highway guardrails that can turn into "car-impaling spears" upon impact led to a whistle blower lawsuit that came to a close this October. Guardrail engineer and self-proclaimed safety advocate Joshua Harman alleged that the manufacturer of the ET Plus guardrail, Texas-based Trinity Industries, defrauded the federal government during a safety approval process a decade ago.
