Moreover, we actively manage your professional development, training and career progression. For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Dissemination Operations Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks As a member of the Realtime Services System Operations Division RSO, the Key person shall provide support to the routine monitoring, development and operation of the Copernicus S3 dissemination systems. The duties range from the support to the operation of the various dissemination components, to the analysis, testing, and implementation of new data streams and monitoring and reporting functions. It also includes the settingup and implementation of operational procedures, and the coordination with external organisations and service providers. In particular the tasks of the Key person will include Support to routine operations of the dissemination and encryption functions within the multi mission EUMETSA T Ground Segments, including performance monitoring and in the case of anomalies, the identification and application of firstline corrective actions. This task requires the provision of standby and callout support out of normal working hours Control, population and operation of dissemination related databases and configuration files for both inhouse and remote systems Support to the preparation, validation and maintenance of ground segment operational procedures Support to dissemination services related training of the Control Centre Team Support in the analysis and resolution of user enquiries related to dissemination services Support to the HW and SW configuration of EUMETCast Reception Stations Support to the rollout and validation of new releases of EUMETCast Reception Station SW packages Investigation into system anomalies that impact on the data dissemination services Generation of Engineering Change Proposals to improve the operational effectiveness of the encryption and dissemination functions Support to design, implementation and verification testing of corrections and improvements Support to the validation, verification and rollout of new releases of dissemination and encryption software Coordination of the operational validation of releases and changes affecting the dissemination system Definition and implementation of dissemination service monitoring and reporting tools, and generation of related reports Support to the generation and maintenance of a products database for Dissemination administration Participation in meetings and reviews. Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have minimum 3 years experience in operations or software maintenance of realtime data dissemination systems, and be familiar with DVB satellite communications and ground segment operations. The Key person shall have significant work experience on operating system level in major Linux distributions and Windows Windows XP, 7, 8. For the accomplishment of the listed tasks, knowledge and experience of the following is mandatory Computer literacy, including Configuration, installation and scripting for Linux and Windows Evaluationanalysis of systemapplication events and logs Tool based presentation of logs and results Excel etc. Monitoring of near real time data flows in large computer networks Satellite based and terrestrial data distribution systems Provision of near realtime data services in a highavailability environment 247 First and second level support in data services Interaction with endusers Formalised hardwaresoftwaresystem testing Configuration control. Desirable requirements Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key person to have experience with the following DVB based receiveonly earth stations for satellite communications DVBS2 technology. Job Description Support to EUCLID Science Operations Software Development This work package is intended to provide a number of specialised services to support ESA in developing science operations systems and tools, including System engineering and architectural design activities, including operating plans and procedures, Designing, developing, implementing, testing, deploying, operating and maintaining software tools and systems, e.g. o Observation proposal handling, mission planning and quicklook systems, parts of which may be distributed to the community o User support tools o Interactive analysis and calibration systems, to be distributed as needed to the community for data reduction and analysis o Data processing pipelines o Scientific data archives and interfacing these to the virtual observatory. o Scientific and technical WWW systems to support Science Operations Centre, Science Ground Segment and the scientific community Contribute to the definition of Interface Control Documents ICDs and file interchange formats with external coordination units Organise and perform end to end system testing with the scientific communities Contribute to the maintenance of the overall system, including configuration control and versioning The EUCLID Science Ground Segment Euclid is a highprecision survey mission in the Cosmic Vision Programme of ESA designed to answer fundamental questions on Dark Energy and Dark Matter. Euclid will map the largescale structure of the universe over the entire extragalactic sky out to redshifts of 2 about 10 billion years ago, thus covering the period over which dark energy accelerated the universe expansion. The mission is optimized for two primary cosmological probes Weak gravitational Lensing WL and Baryonic Acoustic Oscillations BAO. The ESAC team is forming the Euclid Science Operations Centre SOC that will build the Science Ground Segment in collaboration with the Euclid Consortium. The Euclid SOC will execute and monitor the sky survey, perform initial processing on the science telemetry stream and provide the Euclid archive. The Euclid SOC will work with the Euclid Consortium in the area of instrument operations coordination. The work package is intended to provide a number of specialised services to support ESA in development and maintenance of the telemetry processing and analysis systems that will monitor the scientific health of the payload and the survey status. The service supports the software development of the quick look, science health monitoring and auxiliary services and tools by designing, implementing, installing, maintaining, testing and documenting these systems. The applicant shall manage the service provision and provide ESA with the necessary data and corresponding evidence. The applicant shall be measured and assessed on the basis of Periodic software releases including at least annual major releases of the software, interleaved with minor versions when applicable System and Software engineering documentation i.e. Architectural and system design, software test plan and reports Software architecture, design documentation Software documentation interfacing to user as well as developer Software source and object code Software unit tests with an approved test coverage Definition of Interface Control Documents ICDs and file interchange formats with external coordination units Attendance in approved groups and meetings Participation in software integration, validation, product validation and verification campaigns Progress reports In addition, specifically for Euclid o Installation, configuration, and operation of Euclid planning and commanding systems at ESAC coordinated and approved by the SOC Interactions The distributed nature of Euclid development requires the applicant to communicate with developers and operations scientists at ESAC as well as with experts within the Euclid Consortium in order to support the software development and survey generation and monitoring, and the development and operations of the instrument command generation system. The applicant participates in working groups and meetings to provide recommendations to ESA on the prioritization of fixes and enhancements. Examples are Configuration Control Board groups Milestone meetings User workshops and developer meetings with the o Euclid SGS system team, o SOC Calibration and Operations Team, o Euclid Consortium Instrument Operations Teams. o Euclid Mission Operations Centre. Specific Qualification Requirements The service to be provided requires that the personnel should possess a university background in a scientific or technical subject and relevant professional experience of at least 5 years in software development. In particular, possess the following experience, knowledge and proficiency in At least five years relevant experience in professional software development and software engineering coding with experience with Python applications with good broad knowledge of Python. Implementation of data processing, imaging processing and statistical techniques with Python e.g. using numpy, scipy and matplotlib. Handling common astronomical file formats e.g. FITS. Development andor maintenance of complex ground segment systems. Software system architecture. Software development with specific experience in object oriented software design and development using version control systems. Software development processes and tools configuration management, code generation, continuous integration, automated testing, metrics, coding styles and rules. Working knowledge of Linux systems. Modelling technologies and methodologies and IDE UML. Experience with configuration control systems Subversion. Experience writing user documentation is an advantage.
