T-Mobile prepares core network for launch of standalone 5G later this year

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile US announced a number of milestones on its 5G production core, in cooperation with vendors Nokia, MediaTek, Cisco, Ericsson and Qualcomm. The company said it is on track to launch standalone 5G services this year thanks to the new core network.

T-Mobile opens up network to Sprint customers, adds mid-band spectrum to boost 5G coverage

(Telecompaper) T-Mobile US is getting started with the integration of Sprint, after closing the acquisition at the start of this month. The company announced the deployment of Sprint's 2.5 GHz spectrum already on its network, helping expand its 5G coverage. The T-Mobile network also will be opened up to Sprint customers for roaming.

T-Mobile completes takeover of Sprint, Sievert starts as CEO

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom and Softbank have completed the merger of their US mobile operators T-Mobile and Sprint. T-Mobile's takeover of its smaller rival Sprint is expected to strengthen its position as challenger to the top US mobile operators AT&T and Verizon. The company will be lead by former T-Mobile COO Mike Sievert, who takes over from John Legere as CEO from 01 April, when the new T-Mobile officially launches.
