We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Web Data Services Analyst based at EUMETSAT, Darmstadt, Germany. Main Responsibilities Eumetsat is introducing new web based, operational Data Services including Online Data access services to download, tailor and visualise the EUMESTAT satellite data and products. The services will be cloud based SaaS and offer both access via Graphical User Interfaces GUI and standardised Programmatic Application Interfaces API The Web Services User support will participate in the first level activities of operating the Web services and support end users in accessing these new services. Tasks and activities 1st level Operations support Support monitoring of the web services Support in analysing errors and deriving improvements to Monitoring Documentation of work routines and error handling routines Updating the Knowledge Data base to be used by Operators and Operations Engineers Support Data provision and format transformations from Long Term Archive to Online Data Access User Support Responding to questions and queries related to technical issues in accessing the services Reproduce the difficulties users have in access and identify the reason Provide material which helps users in accessing the data, in particular API access Interact closely with 1st level Operations and 2nd level engineering teams . The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate should bring the following skills and experience Mandatory Degree in Computer Science or IT related study or other relevant experience Strong know how in scripting preferably Python and Linux Practical Experience in Programming using APIs Experience in working in a user support role Strong team working attitude Nice to have Experience in an Operations environment EO data handling experience EOformat and Metadata experience, in particular NetCDF, XML Experience with support tools, e.g. Jupiter Notebook, SNAP Experience in collaborations tools such as Jira and Confluence Cloud application environment experience Important Any offer of employment is contingent upon you providing documents to verify your identity and employment eligibility, as required by law. Position Reference 005 You will have the opportunity to perform services at ESA Kourou office in support of the European Spaceport Infrastructure Office and the Exploitation Cost Monitoring Office with regards to following CSG operational contracts status, ensuring the validity of processes carried out as described in operational contracts, and helping to improve the industrial processes, with regards to exploitation related activities. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Conferring with stakeholders about specifications, industrial capacities and capabilities, and status of projects. Reviewing schedules, process flows, etc. to understand methods and activities in operations, integration and services, and how to improve efficiency and eliminate waste. Understanding the ways industrial systems at the CSG interact and how changes in conditions operations, launch rate, etc. can affect outcomes. Proposing industrial, process, and supply chain improvements. Designing control systems to minimise and resolve process and project issues. Coordinating with others internally and externally to assess the above and to create and implement changes. Contributing to measures and the improvement of database structure and functionalities. Helping to create processes methods to gather supplier contract and process activity data and propose and follow KPIs. Writing and establishment of report elements which will be directly usable in the ESA reporting system such as proposals and progress reports. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have a Degree qualification, preferably masters in an engineering or related subject. Lean andor six sigma training would be an advantage. You have excellent writing skills and command in French and English both written and spoken. You have experience highly developed capability in complex information data mining, analysis and reporting. You are able to be discreet about confidential data. You possess high degree of computer literacy MSOffice products particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel. Knowledge of relational database concepts will be considered an asset. The following skills would be highly desirable You have knowledge of the CSG and its functioning. You have experience in contract and or supply chain management. Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analysing datasets Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy Adept at SQL queries, report writing and presenting findings Proven working experience as a quality data analyst or business data analyst Communication skills are important as most of the activities imply a good relationship with technical domains and other areas within IM organization Exposure to ITIL will be a benefit, however training is provided.
