Junior Development Engineer Thermal Analyst

We are currently looking for a Junior Development Engineer Thermal Analyst to support our customer in Germany. Key Tasks and Responsibilities You will have the following responsibilities Performing thermal analyses of spacecraft, payloads, instruments, mechanisms and other equipment Performing plausibility checks and manual calculations to validate the analysis results Supporting the development of the thermal control system, its subsystems and components Simulation and monitoring of thermal tests, such as thermal vacuum and thermal balance tests Thermal balance tests, of satellites and their components Application of SYSTEMAThermica and ESATANTMS software packages Design and development of thermal hardware heat pipes, thermal bands, thermal switches Documentation and archiving of all activities, mathematical models and analysis and test results. Skills Experience The key person shall have proven knowledge and handson experience in several of the following mandatory skills areas Engineering degree or equivalent Knowledge in the use of SYSTEMAThermica andor ESATANTMS is an advantage Knowledge in conductive and radiative heat transfer processes Knowledge in design and definition of thermal hardware heat pipes, thermal tapes, thermal diodes, phase change materials, etc. Understanding of thermal material properties Understanding of orbital mechanics and the solar system Knowledge in the field of cryogenics is a plus Knowledge in the field of optics is advantageous Good communication skills to ensure the flow of information Ability to integrate into a team High degree of responsibility Ability to work under pressure Organizational skills Fluency in English and German are mandatory. Aurora has the opportunity to expand our support to ESA in the domain of BPC Business Process and Cost Engineering. Overview A diverse range of support tasks is required to be carried out by the Contractor within the above domains, encompassing hardware, software and system aspects. These can be grouped within the following main headings Support data mining and analysis for corporate controlling activities at ESA level. Support the definition and development of data models. Support the production of internal and external reports. Improve the multiyear planning and controlling processes, methods and tools. Supporting the definition and development of IT systems and databases in support of multiyear planning and controlling. Provision of input to the controlling requirements of financial and resource management support system and defining the necessary processes and related monitoring and reporting requirements. Supporting the implementation of such management support system. Specific qualification requirements Master engineering degree please note that candidates without an engineering degree will not be considered. Strong mathematics and statistical business models for financial planning and forecasting. Basic knowledge of SAP and Business Object. Basic knowledge of programming SQL and BI tools like tableau, Microsoft Power BI. Experience in Corporate Finance, Financial Reporting and Economics. Fluency in English both written and spoken is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration in line with ESA Job Class E3. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Space Applications Services performs and supports system and software engineering for the European Space Agency ESA, National Space Agencies and the aerospace industry. We are involved in international manned unmanned spacecraft programmes, earth observation, science, exploration, communications and related technology development. Tasks and Responsibilities The work will be performed at the European Space Operations CentreESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. The Analyst is required to configure the mission operational tools to support the operations. This includes Setup of SC and operational data bases. Implement tools needed to manipulate the databases as required. updating the data bases and performing maintenance of the data bases applying strict configuration control procedures. Conversion of industry provided databases into formats needed by the mission control system and operational tools. Applying configuration control procedures for documentation in use for all operational tasks and duties under his supervision. Imposition of the procedures. Preparation of data base documentation. Supervision of routine operations and any others authorised by the SOM, following established rules and procedures. In case of ground or space segment anomaly providing first level contingency recovery support. Introduction and maintenance of appropriate working practises and procedures for routine and problem reporting, data analysis, recording and maintenance of system status, recording of operational activities. Support system maintenance activities. Maintenance of a set of reference operational documentation and ensure operational changes are applied. Analysis as required of system problems by collection and evaluation of appropriate data sets using the reporting and analysis tools available. Collect information data regarding the execution of the mission and provide inputs for the various mission reports. Support data archiving and mission run down activities. The Spacecraft Analyst is required to familiarise himself with the procedures and tools that are needed to perform the routine Spacecraft control operations. The Spacecraft Analyst should be able to take over the controller tasks if required for operational reasons. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have a technical education in appropriate subject, our bachelor degree in a relevant discipline. No previous experience is requested. Furthermore, candidates are required to have following skills Experience in working in an operational environment A good knowledge in using MSEXCEL and SACCESS, Visual Basic, ORACLE and SQL Service provision will be exclusively in English. Ability to organise, coordinate and train a Spacon team. Familiarity with operational training. Familiarity with satellite control systems, ideally SCOS2000. Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript, S2K Operations Knowledge of satellite or ground operations, or nonspace operational environments Experience with mission planning systems. Experience of reporting on operational systems. Familiarity with effective teamwork principles and team building aspects. The position is located on site at ESOC.
