A2 Milk suitor, Dean Foods, is refusing to explain the sudden departure of its chairman after the US regulator launched an insider-trading investigation into the American dairy giant. The probe and surprise resignation of Dean chairman Tom C. Davis, as well as a steeper-than-expected decline in quarterly sales, sparked a sell-off in the company's shares, which dived as much as 18 per cent in New York on Monday.

Customers in the Brattleboro region say representatives for Great Auk Wireless are not picking up the phone to field customer complaints, and the owner of the company may have fled the United States to avoid an investigation.
