As part of SES Technology, the RF Systems Engineering Team are subject matter specialists responsible for development oversight, and innovation, for RF systems incorporated in Satellite Earth Stations this includes all antenna passive and active and associated RF hardware development. Are you? Specialized in the area of RF Terminal Engineering with strong handson knowledge of RF Systems design and development, including Antenna Control and subsystems integration? Creative and openminded, always on the lookout for new technologies or new twists on old technologies which could create opportunities for SES Enjoying cocreating and implementing product solutions? Primary ResponsibilitiesKey Result Areas Support SES Networks and SES Video Business Units in the deployment of their Technology Road Maps by identifying and developing appropriate technologies in the RF Systems domain to support their short to mediumterm strategic goals Project manage the inhouse design and testing projects drafting systems specifications for subsystem and integrated product developments reviewing vendor proposals in response to formal RFPs and RFIs and support design reviews and witness and review vendor test campaigns Participate in industry standards definition and technology development collaboration working with several international agencies, Government, academic and industrial partners Responsible for several handson inhouse lab and supplier partnerbased RF Systems Engineering projects Monitor and foster new developments in communications technologies and signal processing that can improve the performance of data links over SESO3b satellites in conjunction with the RF Systems Development team Provide Design and Engineering review support for the development product concepts for implementation readiness through both the Product Engineering team along with the market vertical segmented Solutions Engineering teams and ensure that the designs incorporate flexibility, scalability, and reusability Collaborate with technology suppliers to present RF technology alternatives to product development teams Support the Technology Program Management Office to ensure the collation and execution of development schedules and the resolution of resource conflicts Develop and document antenna system requirements, specifications, interfaces, test plans including associated quality assurance to support Integration Operations Services. Work effectively as part of the crossfunctional team. ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY 3month internship, starting in September 2021 This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Spectrum Development team in a fastpaced, global organization within an innovative and unique industry. Based in Betzdorf, you will contribute to the development and control of an information system for satellite networks and satellite network filings in support of the activities of spectrum development at SES. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Perform an analysis of the database structure of the current system, to recommend refinements aimed at streamlining the architecture Analyze the data workflow and propose mechanisms to automate data ingestion and maintenance applying ETL principles Execute an inventory of data, and grade the database in terms of quality, following guidance from spectrum software engineering Execute data cleaning on the existing system, following form the results of the data quality analysis. Internal tools will be used during the internship, including interfaces to the database and visualization tools for the data in the system. On behalf of the European Space Agency, we are looking for a highly skilled GSMC onsite engineering support to work in ESA HQ, in Paris. SPECIFIC TASKS Task 1 follow up and coordinate the daytoday GSF, SOIF and SECMON AIV activities at GSMCFR and ES liaising with WP2X industry, WP1X industry and GSA GSMC. Task 2 follow up the deployment and onsite AIV planning through participation to the Mid Term Planning Meetings MTPs, Short Term Planning STP meetings and Change Control Boards CCBs. Task 3 liaise with the ESA Project Office in ESTEC on both urgent and daytoday matters potentially affecting the Galileo service continuity or limiting OPS capabilities. Task 4 review AIV documentation RVM, Test Cases, Test Procedures at segment and system level, especially those related to Site AIV activities and provide duly comments in relation to the review schedules. Task 5 support the planning of GSF, SOIF and SECMON Delivery Review Boards DRB and their associated test campaigns. Task 6 follow up the GSF, SOIF and SECMON onsite qualification activities both at system and segment level, reviewing the evidence contributed by the developing contractor WP2X. Task 7 follow up the test campaigns, in particular for tests executed on site. This includes attendance of TRRs, witnessing of test execution, review of test results and ensure the timely delivery of test logs to the data processing teams. Task 8 follow up the closure of GSF, SOIF and SECMON related anomalies as part of the Anomaly Review Boards and NCRs as part of Nonconformance Review Boards, either at segment level internal or resulting from systemOPS activities external, ensuring that critical issues are solved with maximum priority and any Work Arounds are duly validated. Task 9 support the GSMC Operators in their operational validation tasks, liaising with the technical experts in ESTEC and Industry and ensuring the operability of the delivered infrastructure Task 10 participate, as requested, in Galileorelated reviews and technical evaluation boards, in particular contributing to GSF, SOIF and SECMON qualification reviews, intermediate DRB reviews, system and operations reviews REQUIREMENTS Masters degree in a relevant field and minimum 4 years of relevant experience Experience with the Galileo programme, preferably related to security monitoring or PRS functionality Experience in technical procurement and contractors management, preferably in relation to a space or defense system Experience in configuration management, including preparation andor maintenance of operational documentation and procedures Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Candidates must be eligible for security clearance from their national security administration.
