Freight train kills pedestrian at Lake Forest depot

A Canadian Pacific freight train struck and killed an 87-year-old man in Lake Forest on Thursday afternoon, officials said. Police and firefighters responded to a call at 1:54 p.m. at the West Train Depot, 911 S. Telegraph Road, where they found a man dead on the tracks, according to a release from Lake Forest police.

Calling the invasive algae starry stonewort a lake killer is an over-reaction, an official of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, said Thursday.
