Tasks and Responsibilities The Mission Control System Software Engineer MCSE shall provide prime support to the evolution and maintenance of the EUMETSAT operational Mission Control Systems. The MCSE shall also perform engineering of the Mission Control Systems developed in the frame of new programmes. Requirements The key person should have the following background Experience in the software maintenance and evolution of Satellite Mission Control Systems based on MICONYS software suite from ESAESOC. In particular experience in all the following MICONYS components is considered mandatory SCOS2000, SLE API, FARC, PARC and NIS Experience in space related standards ECSS and CCSDS concerning spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Mission Control Systems such as ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard PUS, CCSDS Space Packet Protocol SPP and CCSDS Space Link Extension Protocol SLE. Developing and maintaining software applications using objectoriented technologies, Unified Modelling Language UML for software design and CASE design tools. This is an opportunity for a motivated and experienced engineer to work for our EUMETSAT customer within a new and interesting space mission. Sentinel3 is a Low Earth Orbiting mission in the context of the Copernicus Services set up by the European Commission. The first satellite, Sentinel3A, is expected to launch mid2015 with the second satellite Sentinel3B operating in tandem and due for launch 18 months later. EUMETSATs monitors and controls Sentinel 3 satellites and generates near realtime and offline products to support the marine user community. Telespazio VEGA offers a permanent position based in EUMETSAT, Darmstadt, Germany with an expected starting date in March 2015. Application closing deadline is October 31st, 2014. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES The Mission and Control System Engineer MCSE shall mainly perform tasks related to Copernicus Sentinel3 mission control during the routine operations phase. The tasks primarily involve the management and use of the Flight Operations Segment Mission Control System FOS MCS based on SCOS2000 as well as the satellite software simulator, the Network Data Interface Unit NDIU, being the interface to the SBand TTC ground station equipment.
