Waste disposal company Stericycle Inc said it would buy privately held Shred-it International, a secure information destruction services provider, for $2.3 billion in cash. The deal is expected to add at least 10 percent to cash earnings per share by 2016, rising to the mid-to-high teens in 2018, the companies said in a statement.

Digital Realty to buy Telx for USD 1.9 bln

(Telecompaper) Digital Realty Trust, a provider of data centre and colocation products, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire US data centre operator Telx from private equity firms ABRY Partners and Berkshire Partners in a transaction valued at USD 1.886 billion. Digital Realty said the deal will double its footprint in the colocation business and provide customers with access to a leading interconnection platform. At end March, Telx managed 1.3 million square feet of data centre space operating out of 20 facilities across the US, of which two are Telx-owned, 11 are leased from Digital Realty, one is partially sub-leased from Digital Realty and an unrelated third party, and six are leased from third parties. In order to help fund the acquisition, Digital Realty has priced a public offering of 10.5 million shares at USD 68.00 per share. The offering is expected to close on 20 July, subject to customary closing conditions, with BofA Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup and Credit Suisse as joint book-running managers.
Micron receives USD 23 bln bid from Tsingua - report

(Telecompaper) China's Tsinghua Unigroup has sent a letter to Micron Technology outlining a bid of USD 21 per share, a total of USD 23 billion, for the US chipmaker, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources familiar with the matter. The potential bid price is 19.3 percent higher than the share's USD 17.61 closing price on 13 July. A Micron spokesman said the company, based in Boise, Idaho, has not received a buyout offer and declined further comment.
UPDATE 3-US chemicals maker Platform Specialty to buy Alent for $2.1 bln

U.S. chemicals maker Platform Specialty Products Corp said it would buy Britain's Alent Plc for about 1.35 billion pounds in cash to expand the range of chemicals it makes for the electronics and automotive sector. Platform, which was set up by Martin Franklin in 2013 to buy specialty chemicals companies, said Alent would be will be integrated into its MacDermid division, with which it competes.
