Airtel Africa revenue rises 7% in Q1, customer base up by 12%

(Telecompaper) Airtel Africa said its revenues increased by 6.9 percent to USD 851 million in the first three months to 30 June from USD 796 million in the same period of 2019 with constant currency revenue growth of 13 percent, which was partially offset by devaluation mainly in Nigeria (6.9%), Zambia (28.3%) and Kenya (4.4%). The revenue growth was largely driven by the growth of the customer base by 11.8 percent to 111.5 million and ARPU growth of 1.6 percent in constant currency.

Naspers FY revenue rises 23% to USD 22.1 bln

(Telecompaper) Naspers has reported a 23 percent increase in revenue to USD 22.1 billion for the year ended 31 March from USD 19 billion in 2019, driven by e-commerce and growth at Tencent. Group trading profit grew 17 percent to USD 3.7 billion from USD 3.3 billion, as core Classifieds and core Payments businesses improved profitability even as it stepped up investment in Food Delivery.

Vodacom Group FY revenue rises 5%, subscriber base up by 6 mln

(Telecompaper) Vodacom Group revenue increased by 4.8 percent to ZAR 90.75 billon for the year ended 31 March from ZAR 86.63 billion in the same period of 2019, supported by service revenue growth of 5.0 percent. The mobile phone firm added 5.9 million customers and reached 116 million across the group. Total financial services customers were up 12.8 percent or 6.0 million to 53.2 million.

Ooredoo Group revenue rises 1% to QAR 7.3 bln in Q1, customer base up 6%

(Telecompaper) Ooredoo Group said revenue for the first quarter ended 31 March increased by 1 percent to QAR 7.3 billion from QAR 7.19 billion in Q1 2019, supported by robust growth in Indonesia, Tunisia, Myanmar and other markets. That growth was partially offset by a Covid-19 impact, lower handset sales, and macroeconomic weakness in some of other markets. EBITDA declined by 5 percent year-on-year to QAR 3.02 billion from QAR 3.73 billion, hit by measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 in many territories as well as challenging market conditions in Algeria, Kuwait and Oman.

Maroc Telecom Group revenue rises 4% in Q1, customer base up 11%

(Telecompaper) Maroc Telecom Group's consolidated revenue increased by 4 percent to MAD 9.31 billion for the first quarter to 31 March from MAD 8.95 billion in Q1 2019, thanks to a 6.9 percent rise in the group's international revenue. EBIDTA was MAD 4.79 billion, up 3.1 percent from MAD 4.65 billion, driven by the increase in revenue. The EBITDA margin was 51.5 percent.
