Closing date 1st October 2018 The key person will support our customer during routine operations of Sentinel3 S3, as well as the operations buildup for Sentinel3B and the operations, engineering and scientific activities to be undertaken as part of the routine operations of the dual satellite Sentinel3A Sentinel3B system for the Copernicus Sentinel3 S3 Mission. PROFILE Mandatory skills In addition to having an University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory skills At least 3 years experience ofthe operation of realtime, complex, satellite instrument data processing systems Demonstrated experience of Instrument data and product processing Level0 to 2 of meteorological andor earth observation products Demonstrated experience in near real time, data driven, automated systems with large computer networks Significant experience of validating complex remote sensing data processing systems Demonstrated experience with UNIXLinux operating systems. Additional skills considering as an added value Imaging sounding surface topography instrumentation for remote sensing spacecraft Development and maintenance of operational procedures configuration data Programming languages e.g. C, C and IDL Scripting languages and databases e.g. Perl, Python, shell, Oracle Spacecraft andor ground segment operations Knowledge andor experience of geophysical remote sensing data processing, calibration and validation. TASKS The key persons Instrument Data Processing Engineers IDPE shall perform tasks related to instrument data processing in support of the Copernicus S3 Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS, during current routine S3 operations, as well as for the operations build up for S3B and the routine operations phase for the dual satellite system. The tasks cover the operation of the different data processing components for S3A 3B, which include Data ingestion, processing and product distribution Data and Product analysis Operational performance monitoring and reporting, including the development, documentation and maintenance of the relevant tools for e.g. production statistics generation and reporting, PDGS monitoring and reporting The testing and the implementation of new products The settingup, implementation and update of operational procedures and documentation Anomaly investigation First line maintenance, including oncall support Coordination with external organisations and service providers Attendance at technical meetings Participation to formal reviews.

For our customer in Darmstadt we are looking for a Data Processing Supporting Applications Engineer to support current and forthcoming Earth observation missions. Tasks and Responsibilities The tasks of the Data Processing Engineer shall include the following activities 1. Contribute to the definition, design, implementation and maintenance of architectures for data processing ground segments and their components with special emphasis on product quality control, calibration and validation, production monitoring and reporting. This task will mainly include 1.1. Maintenance and evolutions of the MONA framework in all its components 1.2. Configuration Management, building and distribution of software releases and patches 1.3. Contribution to software system design and reengineering 1.4. Contribution to the definition, design and implementation of Climate Data Record project 2. Contribution to the operations of existing data processing ground segments and their maintenance and evolution. This will also include Upgrade software, including implementing and maintaining new algorithms for product quality control and calibrationvalidation activities. 3. Perform routine tasks in operational systems under configuration control such as 3.1. Support the Configuration Management process and the building and distribution of software releases and patches 3.2. Contribute to the development, integration and configuration management of software developed by third parties, its installation, and configuration and testing 3.3. Anomaly investigations, documentation and classification 3.4. Follow up of the delivery of SW resolutions for any engineering change e.g. anomalies and evolutions 4. Perform standard SW engineering activities such as 4.1. SW testing in a structured approach to verify that delivered SW is fulfilling the requirements or to demonstrate that problems have been corrected. 4.2. SW integration and verification in the EUMETSAT ground segments 5. Settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures 6. Contribution to the procurement and installation of software, and the coordination with external providers of support services 7. Participation in meetings and formal reviews. Skills and Experience In addition to a university degree in a relevant technical discipline such as engineering or physics the candidate shall have a background including the following skills and experience Relevant experience in preparation of requirements, design, interfaces and testing documentation for data processing systems considering the systems engineering aspects of data processing management and data provision experience of data processing for high data rate missions andor Earth Observation missions is an asset but is not mandatory Experience in SW design, SW development, Web applications programming, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of large complex realtime data processing systems for Earth Observation missions. Competence in objectoriented software design and implementation possibly in the context of satellite instrument data processing systems. Systematic approach to work, including the ability to plan the work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks Ability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. very good communication, presentations and team working skills and be able to cope with very high workloads Ability to learn and develop the needed skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of Data Processing applications within the Supporting Application Engineering Team. This includes the ability to rapidly absorb, and make use of, information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams.
