US home prices rose 4.9 pct. in May, lifted by strong sales

The Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller 20-city home price index increased 4.9 percent in May from 12 months earlier, down slightly from a 5 percent pace in April, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices. Home sales have jumped in recent months as an improving economy boosts hiring and enables more people to afford a purchase.

Corning Rising: Cuts Display Glass View on TVs, Sees Stronger Comms Sales

Shares of Corning are up 30 cents, or 1.6%, in early trading after the company this morning reported Q2 revenue that missed analysts' expectations, but beat by a penny on the bottom line, and cut its outlook for computer panel and TV panel glass demand, saying weakness will last the rest of the year. Revenue in the three months ended in June were roughly flat with the prior-year period to $2.52 billion, yielding EPS of 38 cents.

Franklin Electric Co., Inc. reported second quarter 2015 adjusted earnings per share of $0.35 compared to 2014 second quarter adjusted EPS of $0.60, a 42 percent decrease . In the second quarter of 2015, the Company's GAAP fully diluted EPS was $0.33, down 40 percent to the GAAP fully diluted EPS from the second quarter of 2014.
