Amid Safety Fears, Feds Release Guardrail Crash Findings

The finding comes as the maker of the guardrail system, Trinity Industries, faces a federal investigation into its dealings with state and federal safety officials and is fighting a state Department of Transportation over new crash tests for the embattled guardrail system. The Federal Highway Administration and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials had created a task force to investigate crashes in which vehicles hit guardrail end terminals after it was revealed in 2012 that one of the guardrail makers, Trinity, had modified one of its end terminal models, the ET-Plus, years before and failed to notify state or federal officials as required.

The guardrail that impaled a man in a San Marcos crash Monday was made by the same company that's come under fire by safety advocates and the federal government, Team 10 learned. Early Monday morning, a man driving a white Chevy Malibu lost control on Twin Oaks Valley Road, slamming into a fire hydrant before hitting the end of a guardrail.

Johnson Creek guardrail installation to close SE 112th Avenue near Brookside Drive for two weekends

The City of Portland Bureau of Transportation advises the traveling public that safety improvements for a Johnson Creek bridge will require the closure of SE 110/112th Avenue between SE Brookside Dr and SE Foster Road on Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. This closure also will be in effect the following weekend, with the possibility that a third weekend of work may be needed.
