Guardian: The National Audit Office is to investigate George Osbornes decision to scrap a 1bn prototype carbon capture scheme which cost the taxpayer at least 60m, a letter seen by the Guardian shows. DEQ says scrapping some mandatory reports could save time

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality says it could shed lots of busy work if lawmakers scrapped a dozen mandatory reports the department deems unnecessary. The Lansing State Journal reports the DEQ estimates that if the reports were handled by one full-time employee it would take that worker more than 33 weeks to complete.
