DEQ says scrapping some mandatory reports could save time

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality says it could shed lots of busy work if lawmakers scrapped a dozen mandatory reports the department deems unnecessary. The Lansing State Journal reports the DEQ estimates that if the reports were handled by one full-time employee it would take that worker more than 33 weeks to complete.
