(Telecompaper) Diminishing chances for international satellite operators for a windfall on US 5G spectrum holdings drove Intelsat (-47%), SES (-15%) and Eutelsat (-10%) down for a second straight week. The incumbent operators appear to be looking increasingly at spinning off networks and country operations into listed subsidiaries, including Deutsche Telekom, Orange and Telecom Italia/TIM. The Telecompaper European Telecom Services index was down 0.1 percent in week 47, against a loss of 0.7 percent for the EuroStoxx 50. The German conglomerate 3U was the biggest winner, up 10 percent.

McHenry High School District 156 brings back 2 incumbents, welcomes real estate agent

McHENRY – McHenry High School District 156 school board president Steve Bellmore will return with fellow incumbent Tim Byers while newcomer Dawn Bremer claimed the third open seat, according to unofficial results. With all precincts counted, Byers led the way with 1,603 votes followed by Bremer with 1,326 and Bellmore with 1,308 votes.

The eight city council members in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson running for re-election outraised their challengers by a combined margin of $1.4 million to $380,000 since Jan. 1, according to campaign finance reports released Tuesday. Leading the way was Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, who has raised $526,000 since the start of the year, adding to the $137,000 she had already raised for her re-election bid.

A former state senator, federal magistrate judge and president of an auto parts company are among the newest members of the University of North Carolina system's governing board. The state Senate elected eight people Wednesday to the 32-member UNC Board of Governors for four-year terms starting July 1. The House is expected to hold its similar biennial election Thursday.
