Carbon Pollution Fuels Superwarm January, Hottest 12 Months On Record
2016-02-21 16:00:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
ThinkProgress: Hot on the heels of the hottest year on record globally, NASA reported Saturday last month was the hottest January on record - by far. January 2016 blew out the previous record for hottest January (2007) by nearly 0.3°F. In January the Arctic averaged a staggering 13.5°F (7.5°C) above average, leading to a new record low of Arctic sea ice extent for the month. There has never been as hot a 12-month period in NASA`s database as the previous 12 months (February 2015January 2016). This is using...

Why We Need to Keep 80 Percent of Fossil Fuels in the Ground
2016-02-19 19:35:00| Climate Ark Climate Change & Global Warming Newsfeed
Yes: Most of the time, public policy is a series of trade-offs: higher taxes or fewer services, more regulation or more freedom of action. We attempt to balance our preferences: for having a beer after work, and for sober drivers. We meet somewhere in the middle, compromise, trade off. We tend to think were doing it right when everyones a little unhappy. But when it comes to climate change, the essential problem is not one groups preferences against anothers. Its not--at bottom--industry versus...

Renewable Fuels from Algae boosted by NREL refinery process.
2016-02-15 14:31:08| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
New biorefinery process developed by scientists at NREL has proven to be significantly more effective at producing ethanol from algae than previous research. Researchers found that by skipping solid-liquid separation process and exposing all algae components directly to fermentation conditions, both ethanol and lipids can be recovered simultaneously. Dubbed Combined Algal Processing (CAP), process is detailed in a new paper which can be found in the journal Algal Research.
