You will be part of the ESOC Flight Dynamics team as technical expert providing consultancy service within the ESOC Flight Dynamics division. As part of your duties, you might be involved in the design, development and validation of flight dynamics tools and systems and you may also support operations. The scope of the mission managed by ESOC is wide from earth observation to interplanetary missions. We offer five positions in Prelaunch Development and Operational Support. TASKS Flight dynamics software operations support for flying spacecraft Flight dynamics operations procedures creation and maintenance Support to the mission team concerning flight dynamics aspects Preparation of flight dynamics operations systems for future missions Flight dynamics algorithms study and prototyping, software requirements specification, design implementation and testing Test and validationof flight dynamics software Science Mission Trajectory Optimisation Maintenance of flight dynamics software Orbit Determination ACS Command Generation ACS Calibration Problem investigation, reporting, tracking, correction and fix validation This is a consultancy position for ESAESOC. The location of work is primarily in DarmstadtGermany PROFILE The successful candidate shall have a university degree in mathematics, physics or relevant engineering discipline, with a specialization that includes orbital mechanics or dynamics and control. A first proven experience in the field of flight dynamics is required, preferably gained during the development and operation of space systems. Reliability, organisational and teamwork skills, and an ability to put forward some proposals are requested as personal qualities. Knowledge of flight dynamics functions, including attitude andor orbital dynamics or classical mechanics Knowledge of applied mathematics FORTRAN andor CC as well as Matlab Software engineering process, including requirements specification, implementation, validation, operations and maintenance Software verification, validation and acceptance testing, including the preparation and execution of test procedures Understanding of satellite operations systems and concepts. The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills together with the ability to effectively cooperate within the team and with internal customers. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key person must be able to work effectively in this language and have a basic knowledge of the other, together with good communication skills. For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, we are currently looking for Engineering Project Support for NonMetallic Materials and Processes Tasks and Responsibilities Testing of adhesive bonding systems and processes, including adhesives applications for metals and nonmetallic materials. Selection of specific adhesives for specific end uses e.g. extreme temperature applications, integrity under thermal loads. Performing general failure analysis of materials and assemblies with emphasis on adhesion issues. Evaluation of surface treatments and its effects on bonding systems. Longterm durability of adhesive joints. Surface modification and analysis due to space environmental effects like atomic oxygen and plasma effects. Performing materials qualification programmes for nonmetallic materials and analysis. Stabilisation and degradation analysis of nonmetallic materials under space environmental conditions. Producing clear and professional reports as specified for the task. Supporting the inclusion of results in internal databases. Experience and education a PhD or Master degree in materials science, materials physicschemistry or a related field together with a good working knowledge of materials process technology and a good understanding of physics. good familiarity with advanced surface analysis techniques XPS, AFM, Raman, TOFSIMS, SEM EDXWDX, FIB a strong background on other advanced materials characterisation techniques with specific emphasis in thermal analysis techniques. experience carrying out RD studies to understand behaviour of materials under extreme environments such as space. familiarity and understanding of ESA PA requirements ECSS as well as ISO17025 requirements Experience in one or more of the following techniques is also required Thermal analysis Differential scanning calorimetry DSC, temperaturemodulated DSC, dynamic mechanical thermal testing DMTA, thermo gravimetric analysis TGA, TMA, DEA, coupled thermal analysis, LFA, DDS etc. Materials characterisation techniques Optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy SEM, atomic force microscopy AFM, IR UV spectroscopy, thermooptical characterisations as well as surface sensitive techniques like ESCA. Maintenance of the relevant test equipment. The Contractor shall ensure that the equipment under his responsibility is kept in an operational state and shall ensure that all necessary routine calibration and maintenance activities are carried out.
