Guardian: Protests at a planned drilling site of a fracking company took an innovative turn on Thursday after activists stopped work by parking an antique fire engine outside the gates of the facility and locked themselves to the vehicle. Associated Press: British police say 12 people have been charged with a variety of offenses in relation to ongoing protests over shale gas extraction in southern England. Surrey Police said Saturday that they have made two further arrests on top of the 16 a day earlier, of whom 12 are facing charges. The charges range from assault on police to preventing drivers and workers from entering a test-drilling site. Guardian: Anti-fracking campaigners claimed a surprise victory on Thursday against attempts to extract oil in the home counties. Dozens of protesters blockaded a drill site outside the West Sussex village of Balcombe. The drill was operated by Cuadrilla, the energy company headed by former BP chief Lord Browne.
