Aizawl, Feb 24 : The Food Security Act was officially launched in Mizoram today by state Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister John Rotluangliana. The food security scheme would be formally implemented from March 1 as the Food Corporation of India can allocate the state's quota only from next month, the minister said.

A meeting last week of the State Council, which comprises China's most senior lawmakers, said it was " inevitable " that regional leaders would be at the forefront of the food security system as China witnesses a " tight balance of food demand and supply for a long period of time ," according to a statement published by the council.
