German body tells Facebook to stop collecting WhatsApp data

(Telecompaper) The Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information has issued an administrative order that prohibits Facebook with immediate effect to collect and store data of German WhatsApp users. Facebook is also ordered to delete all the data that has already been forwarded by WhatsApp.

Samsung tells customers to stop using Note 7

(Telecompaper) Samsung Electronics has told customers with its Galaxy Note 7 smartphone to no longer use the phone and turn it in for a new device. The company confirmed it is working with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to recall the phones after discovering battery cell issues. Tim Baxter, president of Samsung Electronics America, said the company was asking users " to power down their Galaxy Note7s and exchange them now". Replacement devices will be issued to exchange program participants upon completion of the CPSC process. In the interim, consumers can return their Note 7 for another device, such as the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge.
