Switch data center tax break bills clear committee, head to Michigan House

The Michigan House Tax Policy committee on Wednesday advanced legislation that would provide large tax breaks to cloud-computing data center companies, including a Nevada-based firm that plans to open a Grand Rapids campus if the package is signed into law. Three House bills, approved in a series of 8-5 votes that blurred party lines, would exempt data centers from state sales, use and personal property taxes.

The Mycronic Nomination Committee for the Annual General Meeting in 2016, has been expanded to include a representative of Fjarde AP-fonden, as Fjarde AP -fonden increased its holdings in Mycronic to 5.4 percent of the total number of shares in November 2015. Hence, the following persons are members of Mycronic's Nomination Committee for the AGM in 2016: Henrik Blomquist, Bure Equity Katja Bergqvist, Handelsbanken Fonder Thomas Ehlin, Fjarde AP-fonden Ulf Stromsten, Catella Fonder Patrik Tigerschiold, Chairman of the Board Henrik Blomquist has been appointed chairman of the Nomination Committee.

ASTM Committee honors consultant Dr. Norma D. Searle.

ASTM International Committee G03 on Weathering and Durability has presented the Warren D. Ketola Award to Norma D. Searle, Ph.D., a consultant in photochemistry and weathering of polymeric and other nonmetallic materials. Committee specifically noted Searle’s numerous contributions to the development of standards to help the industry better understand weathering effects. Searle is a graduate of Hunter College of the City University of New York and has been a member of ASTM and G03 since 1984.

Consultant Rob Haddock of the Metal Roof Advisory Group Ltd. and Metal Roof Innovations Ltd. has received the Carl G. Cash Award from ASTM International Committee D08 on Roofing and Waterproofing. Committee noted Haddock’s distinguished research contributions, outstanding publications, dedication and leadership to advancing building envelope technology, and particularly performance of metal roofing systems. He has served on ASTM Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings since 1990.
