A new VIE vacancy has arisen in Astrium in Portsmouth for a Radiation Engineer. The succesful candidates mission will be 1. Understanding of radiation effects on componants. 2. Putting databases together of componants. 3. Will be involved in background project work, this will mainly involve upgrading the toosl in the library on the computer systems. 4. Will end up on real analysis work. relevant topics Challenges and difficulties of this position Understanding Radiation effects. Modelling. Understanding how componants and surfaces interact. Interfaces of the position internal externalLine Manager Interdepartmental Interaction including France Germany radiation engineers Support all internal clients and the EEE components supply chain on all technical, technology radiation aspects from first idea up to the procurement Maintain a high level of expertise in EEE technology and radiation domain with the adequate recognition of customers and space agencies Fully manage the new part introduction process selection, evaluation, validation and drafting the procurement specification Lead the Astrium wide RADIUM process through RPOs Support projects for radiation aspects requirement definition, equipment radiation analysis production or validation, etc Support EEE components quality assurance for all technical problems failure analysis, MRB, CTC, etc and for EEE Manufacturer Survey activities Actively manage the Central EEE Laboratory Support design teams with EEE technical data Perform advanced studies related to technologies and radiation internal AND external funding Tasks In charge of radiation studies on EEE components in support to electronics equipment analysis in direct link with interexternal customer in compliancy to project radiation quality insurance requirement Realize calculations relevant to radiation analysis sector analysis dose and SEE predictions Involvement in EEE parts radiation test definition, in particular in support to EEE procurement activities Project support in all project development phases for equipment projects, from bidphase to delivery Contribute to the radiation EEE data collection in the frame of APX1 organization Strong Interfacing to electronics design community, proactive support for all radiation Promote and apply ASTRIUM standards and processes in the radiation area Establish and support a strong interaction of the center of competence CoC electronics with CoC EEE components Degree Educated in Physics or Electronics Backgroundheritage in EEE Technology and Radiation Aspects particle effects very good understanding of nuclear radiation effects microelectronics knowledge Semiconductor physics Microsoft Software Packages Knowledge of radiation software tools welcome, e.g. FASTRAD and NOVICE All technical discuissions take place using English so a good grasp of English is essential.
