A vacancy has arisen for a Junior Geologist with Airbus Defence and Space in Leicester, reporting to the Senior Geologist. The team is responsible for the processing and analysis of remotely sensed for a range of applications, primarily focused on consultancy for the oil, gas and mining sector. Currently the team has a broad range of skills and knowledge including data and sensors, image processing, offshore hydrocarbon seep mapping, environmental analysis, geological interpretation and GIS. The need for additional skills, in the form of a Junior Geologist, has been identified to support the growing demand from our clients. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include It is envisaged that a significant part of the role will involve geological interpretation and analysis of remotely sensed data, working in conjunction with Airbus Defence and Spaces Senior Geologist. As the role develops, client interaction and business development support is expected to become increasingly important. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Degree in a GeologicalEarth Sciences or related discipline. A Master in Remote Sensing would be ideal Geological mapping experience Previous experience of handling remote sensing data GIS data Experience or understanding of the principles behind the use of remote sensing data for geological applications. Understanding the application geological principles. Satellite image processing and GIS skills are desirable, but not essential, as training will be provided as required.
