We are involved in international manned unmanned spacecraft programmes, earth observation, science, exploration, communications and related technology development. We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Software Engineer Knowledge ManagementEarth Observations SDSSAJOBEOS203 Tasks and Responsibilities You will join the Earth Observation Systems EOS Team that develops complex software systems combining state of the art technologies from the Earth Observation EO, Geographic Information Systems GIS, and Knowledge Management KM domains. The team frequently works with international partners. You will be responsible for the design and development of semanticallyenabled distributed applications that allow for searching for EO products and navigating in Linked Open Data LOD in a seamless manner. The client interface will run on mobile devices and implement novel user interaction techniques. The work will be performed in our offices in Zaventem Brussels and may require short international travels for meetings. Qualifications and Experience For this position you must have a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, e.g. Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Software Engineering. The following are mandatory for the position 2 to 5 years of experience in design and development of distributed systems implemented in Java. Experience with the software development lifecycle Competent in writing highquality software project documentation in English. Good knowledge of Linux systems as a user and administrator. Knowledge andor experience in one or more of the following is required Semantic Web technologies and tools e.g. RDF, OWL, SKOS, SPARQL, LOD, CKAN. Knowledge Management techniques and tools e.g. NLP, WSD, GATE, Lucene, OpenNLP. Android programming in Java, Android SDK, and Eclipse Android Developer Tools ADT. Knowledge of OGC standards, ISO Geographic Information standards, GIS related techniques and tools is an advantage.
