Telecom Italia presents network spin-off proposal - report
2018-01-30 13:46:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) has submitted a plan to communications regulator Agcom in which it proposes to put its national fixed-line network into a separate company fully owned by the group, reports Il Messaggero, adding that TIM's CEO Amos Genish intends to present the plan to Italy's industry minister Carlo Calenda on 07 February. An unnamed source cited by Reuters subsequently confirmed the report, saying the voluntary separation was aimed at guaranteeing the network's quality and equal access to all operators. "The proposal is in line with what's been requested by minister Calenda, but there is no talk of listing the network on the stock market," said the source.

Telecom Italia revenue growth slows to 1.3% in Q3, EBITDA lower
2017-11-10 10:40:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) reported a 1.3 percent year-on-year rise in revenues to EUR 4.91 billion in the third quarter, up from EUR 4.84 billion a year earlier, fuelled by continuous high demand for high-speed mobile and fixed services and the ongoing recovery at its TIM Brasil unit. However, the results were slightly below expectations in view of annual revenue rises of 6.4 percent and 8.5 percent in the previous two quarters. In September, Vivendi's chief convergence officer Amos Genish replaced Flavio Cattaneo as CEO in a further sign of the French media giant's influence over the company.

Telecom Italia appoints general manager Genish as new CEO
2017-09-29 08:38:00| Telecompaper Headlines
(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) has appointed Amos Genish as its new Chief Executive Officer two months after he was named general manager for operations. A former Israeli army captain, Genish previously headed Vivo, the Brazilian unit of Spain's Telefonica, a position he took following the merger of Vivo and broadband operator GVT, before being named Vivendi's chief convergence officer. The appointment is seen as a further sign of the French media giant's influence over TIM, where it's the leading shareholder via a 24 percent stake and two-thirds of the company's board. The board also announced that TIM's current deputy chairman Giuseppe Recchi will have organisational responsibility for the operator's Security Department, responsible, including key assets such as international operator Sparkle and ICT subsidiary Telsy.

(Telecompaper) The company added that on an organic basis, excluding exchange rate effects, its revenues rose 3.7 percent in the April to June period, an improvement on rises of 2.6 percent and 0.8 percent in the previous two quarters. The company's consolidated EBITDA for the quarter was up 5.5 percent on like for like terms to EUR 2.1 billion, attributed in part to the cost recovery plan launched a year earlier in Italy and in the third quarter of 2016 at its TIM Brasil unit. The group's adjusted net debt came to EUR 25.1 billion at the end of Q2, some EUR 131 million less than at the end of March.
