(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced the launch of a new initiative designed to reduce CO2 emissions via the marketing of eco-friendly products and services. The campaign, dubbed 'TIM Green', will start this summer with the sale of refurbished smartphones and a new 'green SIM'. The latter is half the size of existing cards, manufactured with 60 percent recycled plastic and comes in entirely biodegradable packaging, helping the company cut plastic consumption by around 13 tonnes per year.

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) confirmed its full-year core profit guidance in spite of an 8.4 percent year-on-year decline in first-quarter revenues to EUR 3.96 billion, attributed to a sharp fall in domestic sales resulting from lower customer numbers in stores and reduced roaming traffic during the coronavirus lockdown. The company's EBITDA was down 7.5 percent year on year on organic terms to EUR 1.77 billion in the first 3 months of 2020 thanks to cost savings and a 1.6 percent rise in revenues at TIM Brasil that partially offset the lower domestic revenues.

Telecom Italia preparing to set up fixed line network newco with KKR - CEO

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) is preparing to set up a newco called 'FiberCop' for its fibre and copper last-mile network and sell 40 percent of it to private equity firm KKR, according to CEO Luigi Gubitosi. Speaking after the publication of TIM's full-year results, Gubitosi said the company expects to make decisive progress this year on plans to provide Italy with a nationwide ultra-fast broadband network and confirmed that separate discussions are underway with KKR and wholesale rival Open Fiber, leaving the door open to a "possible convergence" at the end of the process.

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia (TIM) posted a 6.6 percent year-on-year decline in revenues to EUR 4.0 billion in the fourth quarter, with improved results at its TIM Brasil unit offset by a fall of EUR 291 million (-7.6% year on year) at its domestic unit. TIM's EBITDA for the quarter came to EUR 1.7 billion, down 1.6 percent compared to Q4 2018 on an organic basis, with a domestic decline of 12.8 percent largely offset by a strong performance in Brazil, where it's teaming up with Telefonica to bid for Brazilian operator Oi's mobile business.

Telecom Italia inks deal to add Disney+ to TIMvision

(Telecompaper) Telecom Italia has announced a multi-year agreement with Disney to carry the US company's new Disney+ SVOD service on its TIMvision platform, confirming earlier reports. TIM said it will be the exclusive wholesale distributor of Disney+ in Italy through TIMvision and will bundle it with a range of fibre-based packages when the streaming platform launches on 24 March.
