International Code Council and ASHRAE have signed the final agreement that outlines each organization’s role in the development and maintenance of the new version of the International Green Construction Code (IgCC). The code, scheduled to be released in 2018, will be powered by ANSI/ASHRAE/ICC/IES/USGBC Standard 189.1, Standard for the Design of High-Performance, Green Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings developed using ANSI-approved ASHRAE consensus process.

ASHRAE's Standard 55, Thermal Environmental Conditions for Human Occupancy, specifies combinations of indoor thermal environmental factors and personal factors that will produce thermal environmental conditions acceptable to majority of occupants within specified space. Research looking at method used to determine thermal comfort in Standard 55 appears in Nature Climate Change's "Energy Consumption in Buildings and Female Thermal Demand."

IAQA and ASHRAE offer dual membership program.

ASHRAE and the Indoor Air Quality Association announced last year that they were joining forces to combine resources to improve indoor air quality in the built environment. Under dual membership program, ASHRAE Members and Associate Members can join IAQA as individual members for $131, and individual IAQA members can join ASHRAE for $151. Both are provided with regular benefits of individual membership in the other association.

Call for papers is open for IAQ 2016 conference, "Defining Indoor Air Quality: Policy, Standards and Best Practices." Event will take place September 12–14, 2016 in Alexandria, VA and focus on current and emerging definitions of indoor air quality (IAQ) as well as how they are or could be implemented. Also, IAQ 2016 will highlight best practice solutions that exceed existing minimum requirements. Abstracts for papers on topics appropriate to conference theme are due November 2, 2015.
