With mobile roaming charges on the way out across the European Union, what are the implications for businesses and business travellers? It has been a very long time coming, but right at the end of October 2015, in a vote overshadowed somewhat by the pressing issues surrounding the concurrent net neutrality regulations , the European Parliament finally waved through legislation that will put an end to mobile roaming charges in the 28 European Union member states on 15 June 2017. For many years mobile roaming charges have been a long-standing bugbear for European consumers jetting off to the Mediterranean for their holidays in the sun.

Cybersecurity Legislation Passed by Congress moves to conference.

By 74-21 vote, Senate passed Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act (S 754). If enacted into law, legislation would let businesses voluntarily and securely share information about cybersecurity attacks with federal agencies without jeopardizing customers' personal information. In response, NEMA's Kevin J. Cosgriff applauded this "important first step" taken by Congress but noted that "there is more work to be done to protect against cyber- and physical-threats" and offered support.

San Bruno Officials Denounce Governor's Veto of CPUC Reform Legislation

City officials have spent the past five years seeking to hold PG&E and CPUC officials accountable since the 2010 gas explosion. San Bruno city officials were "extremely disappointed" Friday by Governor Jerry Brown's veto of half a dozen bills intended to reform the California Public Utilities Commission in the wake of a deadly pipeline explosion, according to City Manager Connie Jackson.

NEMA welcomes House action on energy legislation.

NEMA welcomed passage of HR 8, the North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act of 2015, by the House Energy and Commerce Committee by a vote of 32-20. Legislation includes NEMA-supported language which directs Department of Energy to develop a plan to establish a Strategic Transformer Reserve to store large power transformers in strategically located facilities. Bill also includes clarifications to the Energy Policy and Conservation Act.
