BP Alaska plans layoffs following Hilcorp sale

BP Alaska, a major player in the state's oil industry, on Monday announced plans to lay off 275 employees and direct contractors early next year. BP's business in Alaska will be smaller because of the previously announced sale of its interests in four North Slope oil fields to Hilcorp, spokeswoman Dawn Patience said.

Alaska LNG project participants take step forward

Alaska's giant LNG project took another step forward Friday, with participants submitting a formal request to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to pave the way for an environmental review required for federal approval of the project. The request was called a "major milestone" in a press release sent by project lead ExxonMobil.
