More than 500 models on display at the 2015 Alabama Auto Show

The Alabama Auto Show opens today at the Birmingham Jefferson Convention Complex, where more than 500 models featuring the latest industry design and technology are on display. The show, which runs through Sunday, also features 22 brands, including the four that have vehicle and engine assembly plants in Alabama: Mercedes-Benz, Honda, Hyundai and Toyota.

Daimler Q1 earnings nearly double on new models

German automaker Daimler AG credited strong demand for its Mercedes-Benz luxury cars across major markets for a near-doubling in its first quarter profits. Daimler said Tuesday that its net profit during the period spiked to 2.05 billion euros from 1.086 billion in the same quarter a year ago.

German automaker Daimler AG says it nearly doubled net profit in the first quarter from a year ago, to 2.050 billion euros , thanks to strong demand for its Mercedes-Benz luxury cars across major markets. The company on Tuesday credited its investment in renewing its model line, including a new C-Class and an expanded range of smaller vehicles.

Users can find 3D models that share same geometry and topology, even when models are rotated and moved with respect to one other. By searching for duplicates, software removes excessive copies from parts libraries.
