Liquid cooling in Siemens converters reduces energy consumption
2015-04-09 15:37:36| Industrial Machines - Topix.net
Thanks to the sealed cabinet system, the liquid-cooled Sinamics S120 Cabinet Modules frequency converter is ideally suited for use in harsh environments. Efficient heat dissipation means there is no need for air conditioning, which markedly reduces energy consumption.

GaN Power Semiconductors simplify PCB design with topside cooling.
2015-03-24 13:31:07| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
With current ratings from 8–250 A, gallium nitride (GaN) power transistors feature GaNPX™ packaging and are based on Island Technology®. Die consist of islands and is embedded within laminate construction. Series of galvanic processes replace conventional techniques, such as clips, wire bonds, and molding compounds. While packaged to be cooled via topside of chip using heat sink or fan, products can also be cooled from bottom surface of die through conduction to PCB.

Thin Cooling Device eliminates hot spots in compact electronics.
2015-03-23 13:31:09| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
At <1 mm thick, thin loop heat pipe helps prevent overheating of localized parts due to heat generated from internal components in such small, thin electronic devices as smartphones and tablets. Heat-transfer device consists of evaporator and condenser connected by pipes into loop with encapsulated working fluid. Evaporator features six 0.1 mm thick copper sheets stacked together and contains porous structure with numerous holes driving fluid with capillary action.

Zipper Fin Heat Sinks optimize cooling performance.
2015-03-20 13:31:08| Industrial Newsroom - All News for Today
Designed to protect components from excess heat, Zipper Fin Heat Sinks have zipper fins machined from thin sheet metal, typically aluminum or copper, formed into custom shapes. Sheets are designed to interlock with very narrow space between layers. Fin assembly is wave soldered to metal base forming very rigid, lightweight heat sink. To contain and optimize cooling airflow, heat sinks can be designed with integral ducts.
