Deutsche Telekom CEO calls for joint investment in fibre by 1&1

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom CEO Tim Hoettges has called on 1&1 to invest jointly in rolling out fibre in Germany. In an interview with the Funke group newspapers, Hoettges said the alternative operator should show it's ready to invest in infrastructure. He also warned against national roaming requirements in the upcoming spectrum auction, something 1&1's parent United Internet supports.

Deutsche Telekom, Vodafone complete roaming trial using NB-IoT

(Telecompaper) The GSMA said that Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone Group have successfully completed the first international roaming trial in Europe using licensed NB-IoT technology. GSMA said the service will ensure seamless coverage and service continuity for millions of connections using Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) networks. The trial was performed using global Sims from Deutsche Telekom on Vodafone Spain's network and global Vodafone Sims on T-Mobile Austria's network and commercial NB-IoT modules.
